A unique tool
BASTA has a board of directors with a wealth of experience and knowledge, whom we have interviewed. First up is Kavin Clevberger of Caverion.
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Karin Clevberger and I have worked in purchasing in various roles for almost 20 years. Right now I'm Purchasing Director at Caverion Sverige AB. My professional background is in construction and housing development with the last 2 years being active in the installation industry. Have been a board member of BASTAonline since 2016. I'm happy and proud of the development Basta has had during this time!
Why do you think BASTA is important?
BASTA is a unique, accessible to all, tool for phasing out harmful and toxic substances from the construction industry. It is user-friendly and easy to understand. The system is open to everyone - builders, installers, property owners and even private individuals who want to work towards phasing out harmful substances. In a transparent and traceable way, we spread knowledge about the products we use in our buildings!
What do you see in the future of sustainable construction?
I see great opportunities and interesting discussions here, where purchasing and purchasing issues are a very important piece of the puzzle. Caverion's customers place great demands on their suppliers and these demands will increase. We simply have to be in step. For example, we work intensively to ensure that our customers achieve their sustainability goals through energy-efficient properties and other building technology initiatives. And we talk about our 'handprint' - what we achieve through services and solutions. Through this, we are already climate positive - our 'handprint' is at least four times larger than our own footprint. So, together with our customers, we contribute to their reduced carbon footprint. We are very proud of that.
